Background
CABS Car Hire was established in 1990 as a Close Corporation and became a Private Company during 2007 when it converted to Cabs Car Hire (Pty) Limited, (CABS) – a subsidiary of D&A Power Products (Pty)Ltd. Reg No. 1995/002686/07 Vat No. 4030150082
CABS is the largest independent car hire company in South Africa, with branches in Cape Town (head office), George, Port Elizabeth, Durban, and Johannesburg. CABS are also represented in Namibia with offices in Windhoek. CABZ car and motorcycle hire is based in Victoria falls, Zimbabwe.
Client Base Information
CABS is a supplier to both National & Local Government on a Tender Basis. We currently supply the Government Garage in the Western Cape, the Department of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Justice and the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Houses of Parliament amongst others.
We have historically been suppliers to the Cape Town City Council and Statistics South Africa. It is to CABS credit that we provide vehicles to the Embassy of United States of America, and we have been privileged to have been selected in helping with the transport Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush during their visits to South Africa.
We are currently suppliers to the United States Embassy country wide and to various other Embassies as well.
Also numbered amongst the world leaders that we have had the privilege of transporting is the Russian Prime Minister Mr. Vladimir Putin, Mr. Barack Obama, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Clinton, and Mr Kofi Annan

Affirmative Action Policy
CABS Car Hire embraces the concept of Black Economic Empowerment. Staff are empowered to advance themselves by training and educational means. We currently have people of the Black and Coloured race groups holding senior positions within the company. I.e. Branch Managers, Accounts Manager and Workshop Manager.

Social Responsibility to disadvantaged communities
- Housing is supplied free for one under privileged staff member.
- Older cars are sold to qualified staff members (2 years service) at a nominal fee, interest free.
- A donation is given to Boys Town on a monthly basis.
- We take an active interest in both the financial & physical wellbeing of approximately 70 orphaned children at the Sukhumzi Children’s Home in Mfuleni. All vehicles at the centre are maintained by CABS; as is their computer and other equipment. (acknowledgment of funds received from Sukhumzi childrens home)
- A sponsorship is made, by way of a monthly donation, to the “Robin Good Initiative” – a feeding programme for disadvantaged children run by Mr. Neil Gibbs of the Sun Valley Ministry.
